The Firm

An independent Israeli law firm

ZUBOK & PARTNERS is an independent Israeli law firm providing legal representation and strategic support to international companies, entrepreneurs, investors and private clients operating in or connected to Israel.

Firm profile

ZUBOK & PARTNERS is an independent Israeli firm, not the local office of an international network. The lawyer a client speaks to is the lawyer who decides how the matter is run.

Behind the firm are two decades of Israeli practice: company and commercial work, banking and financial compliance, disputes before the Israeli courts, regulatory and immigration matters, and real estate. The firm was founded by Gabriel Zubok, who leads it, and works with a team of lawyers and professional staff.

Most of that work is done for clients outside Israel — foreign companies building an Israeli presence, investors and families holding Israeli assets, and the lawyers and accountants who advise them.

The firm's approach

We begin with what has to happen in Israel and work backwards from it. A matter that looks abroad like a contract question often turns out to depend on a bank's compliance file, a registry entry or a permit, and the order in which those are dealt with shapes everything that follows.

So the first thing a client gets from us is a plain description of the route: what Israeli law and Israeli institutions will require, what we will do, what the client has to produce, and which parts are in nobody's control. We would rather say that at the beginning than discover it halfway through.

We do not promise a result that belongs to a bank, a ministry or a court. We prepare the matter for the decision, and we present it.

International and cross-border capabilities

Almost every file we handle begins somewhere else. A group registered in one country buys property in Israel. A payment leaves a foreign bank and stops at an Israeli one. A judgment obtained abroad has to be enforced here.

That work means holding two sets of expectations at once. We prepare documents in the form Israeli institutions accept, explain to foreign counsel and foreign banks why that form is required, and keep both ends of the file moving in the same direction.

Many of our clients we never meet in person. Files run by email and video call, documents are exchanged electronically, and the appearances in Israel are made by us.

Languages

The firm works in English, Hebrew and Russian.

We act in Hebrew before Israeli courts, banks and government offices, and we correspond and report to the client in English or Russian. Nothing reaches the client as a translation of a translation: the lawyer who read the Hebrew document is the one who explains what it says.

Client service standards

  • One partner is responsible for the matter, from the first conversation to the last document.
  • The client is told at the outset what the matter involves, what it will require from them, and what remains uncertain.
  • Correspondence and reporting are in writing and in the client's language, in terms that can be passed on to a board or to the client's own advisers.
  • Documents are explained, not forwarded.
  • We do not promise a result that depends on a bank, a ministry or a court.

Professional network in Israel

An Israeli matter is rarely only legal. Accounts have to be opened, tax positions taken, filings made. We work alongside accountants, tax advisers, banks and other professionals in Israel, and we coordinate with the client's own advisers abroad so that both sides work from the same set of facts.

Where a client has no one in Israel, we can point them to professionals who are used to international clients. Where the client already has advisers, we work to them.

Direct partner involvement

Gabriel Zubok, the firm's founder and managing partner, is personally on the files of the firm's international clients. The client speaks to the lawyer who is taking the decisions on the matter, not to an intermediary who relays them.

The firm's lawyers and professional staff work to him.

Our Team

Representation before Israeli courts, banks and authorities

An Israeli matter is decided in Israel, in front of someone. We appear:

  • before the Israeli courts and tribunals;
  • before Israeli banks — in account opening, compliance reviews and disputes;
  • before Israeli ministries and government authorities — in licensing, permits and administrative proceedings;
  • before the Population and Immigration Authority — in work permits and corporate immigration.

What that representation covers, category by category, is set out under Representative Experience.
